Asda Celebrates Ramadan with Islamic Relief

UK’s leading superstore Asda has launched an exclusive partnership with Islamic Relief, and is celebrating Ramadan across 80 UK stores.

The successful launch of the Ramadan Chocolate Countdown Calendars in a special deal marks the first Muslim charity initiative between Islamic Relief and a Mainstream superstore. Thousands of pounds have been raised through Asda promoting Islamic Relief and facilitating fundraising collections from stores across UK.

“Islamic Relief is involved in many projects around the world and Asda is very proud to be supporting this charity as part of Ramadan through the Asda Ramadan calendar where 15p will be donated to Islamic Relief for every Calendar sold” said Richard Pearson, General Manager of ASDA.

The partnership is creating a buzz amongst its staff aswell, “here at Asda Lincoln we are pleased to hear that our business has decided to help donate towards the health and education projects in Africa” said Sarah Carlton, Events Coordinator of Lincoln ASDA.

This partnership has also facilitated a really convenient Zakat and Sadaqah payment service to Asda’s Muslim customers.

“I’ve been meaning to set-up a standing order to pay my sadaqah for a long time…, this has given me the perfect opportunity to do this” said customer Irfan Ahmed.

Welcomed by all, Islamic Relief’s presence was especially appreciated by the Muslim customers, who were excited to see their favourite charity at their local Superstore.

“It’s good to see a Muslim organisation here, it makes me feel very proud”, said Rehana Saleem, one of the hundreds shopping daily at ASDA.

“Islamic Relief is absolutely delighted with the success of this Asda Partnership. It is certainly enhancing our community engagements and unequivocally building better relations” said Jehangir Malik, UK Manger of Islamic Relief.
